As you arrive at the entrance to the estate nothing will prepare you for the stunning view. As the gate draws back you will be greeted to a spectacular vista of the Indian Ocean and the glistening sea water sparkling below. Welcome to Karang Kembar Estate, an exclusive private villa in a spectacular location.
Karang Kembar Estate is 30 minutes from the airport, on the southern tip of this magical island in a region known as the Bukit Peninsula. An area that boasts some of Bali most glamorous villas, private estates and internationally-branded boutique hotels. The famous Uluwatu Temple, one of Bali finest is a ten minute car drive away.
The villa is nestled on a cliff top 90 metres above the pristine Kutuh Beach. The azure waters of the beach below are the playground of dolphins and migrating whales. Karang Kembar Estate commands an easterly aspect, ensuring glorious uninterrupted sunrise views and magical sunsets.
Unlike many villas in Bali, Karang Kembar has a unique contemporary design and comprises three light and airy pavilions – a master sleeping pavilion, a living pavilion and a guest pavilion. There are a total of 5 bedrooms in this architecturally stunning villa, making it an ideal retreat for families.
Every detail in the villa has been carefully thought out and the atmosphere is one of complete peace, tranquility and privacy. Guests staying at Karang Kembar have access to one of the most idyllic private beach houses on the island, which has its own plunge pool and overlooks the reef.
The experienced villa manager and his team of staff will do their utmost to ensure your stay is total luxury.
The villa can sleep up to eight adults and two children very comfortably. All bedrooms have luxury beds and bedding which provide a perfect night’s sleep after a day spent either relaxing around the 21 metre infinity swimming pool or recovering from a burst of retail therapy, of which there is a lot to choose from.
The master sleeping pavilion comprises two bedrooms, a large bathroom with double washbasins, a shower and toilet, an outdoor bathing pavilion and a massage room.
The guest sleeping pavilion comprises three specious bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms and one with an open-air outdoor shower area where you can bathe under the stars on warm balmy evenings.
From the beds in the master and the guest master bedrooms you can enjoy some of the best views Bali has to offer. When the tide is in the waves crash against the shoreline below and you can almost feel the excitement of the ocean. When the tide is out you can see the local seaweed farmers going about their daily chores of collecting seaweed.
The airy and spacious living pavilion is located in the centre of the villa. At the west end of the living pavilion is a large Chinese-style dining table that seats 10 guests. At the east end is an area to simply relax and read a book or enjoy watching a movie or listening to a range of classical, jazz or pop music being played on a Bose Lifestyle system. A powder room is located off the main living pavilion and there is an outdoor shower by the swimming pool.
The very special private beach house is sheer heaven and when the tide is out there is nothing more magical than gathering up buckets and spades and hunting through the little pools of water for starfish, prawns, crabs and sea snails.

The kitchen area is also the location of the linen room, laundry, and staff rooms.
There is a guest washroom located on the ground floor close to the main entrance.
Living & Dining Room
The magnificent Living & Dining Room is the central focus of the villa; it is accessed by a grand flight of Palimanan stone steps leading up from the pool terrace, in addition to another staircase located near the front door. This long room is characterized by a polished wood floor with a terrazzo border under a soaring dark timber roof. Colourful local artwork adorns the walls and, at one end, sliding glass doors open onto a verandah with a gorgeous ocean view. As soon as these doors are opened, the room is filled with cool sea breezes accompanied by the melodious sound of the waves. A set of folding glass doors above the central staircase can be opened to increase the effects of the cross ventilation, and the room is also equipped with four pendulous steel ceiling fans. When the doors are closed, guests have the option of air-conditioned comfort.
The living area is on the seaward side of the room, furnished with a long sofa, scatter cushions, ottomans, a coffee table, an arching chrome standard lamp, and a dark wood cabinet housing a TV, DVD player and quality sound system.
More doors at the opposite end of the living and dining room lead out onto a large U-shaped stone deck, which wraps itself around the far side of the villa, more than doubling the space of the living and dining area, thereby making it a perfect venue for parties. One section of this deck is sheltered by a timber and clear polycarbonate roof, which provides shade while still allowing the natural light to shine through. This cool verandah is furnished with a circular table and chairs, ideal for casual alfresco dining. Another area is furnished with a large built-in cushioned daybed for relaxing, sleeping or sunbathing.
Bedrooms 3 & 4
The 3rd and 4th bedrooms are located on the upper floor, on the same level as the living and dining room. Furnished with queen size beds, desks and ottomans, these air-conditioned bedrooms feature wooden floors, and each follows an olive and chocolate colour theme. Each is equipped with a TV, DVD player and sound system, and safe deposit box. One room has a narrow balcony and the other boasts a large stone balcony overlooking the pool and garden. Both of the bedrooms, the balconies and the bathrooms boast glorious sea views. Each bedroom has a dressing area with built in storage, and each has an en-suite terrazzo bathroom equipped with a porcelain washbasin, a toilet, wall mirrors, and a walk in shower comprised of natural green tiles and frosted glass screens, open at the top to facilitate cross ventilation of the natural sea breezes.
These two bedrooms have an interconnecting door, located between the dressing areas. The door can be locked or left open according to guest needs.
Rooftop Verandah
A spiral staircase extends from the living room verandah up to a unique chill-out area located at roof level. Here, another breezy verandah is cooled by sea breezes and sheltered by a timber and clear polycarbonate roof. This absolute beachfront villa is characterised by a garden that extends directly onto a private 24-metre beachside buff with timber decking, towering coconut palms, and wooden steps leading down to the beach. This is the place to chill out and gaze at the graceful kites scattered throughout the sky, or watch both the sunrise and the sunset create a warm pink glow across the mysterious, towering, sea-cliffs of Nusa Penida Island .
In addition to the wonderful views, the garden of the two-storey Villa Maya also boasts a lotus pond and a 16 x 4 metre lap pool, which is 1.8 metres in depth and lined with green Java stone.
