Villa Shalimar Rooms Each home consists of the main house with a large open lounge area connected to the kitchen and the open wooden veranda in the front that leads directly to the pool. The house is 2 storeys high and it has got an excellent all-around view over the rice paddies in the back and frontal ocean front in the front. Two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms as separate bungalows attached to the main house. Each house has its own large pool with relaxing beds in the pool.

Villa Makanda
4 AC bedrooms positioned over two different level. All bedrooms have large bathrooms and all bathrooms have shower and bath tubs. A private swimming pool of 9×20 meters with 1.40 depth at the deepest end. Large open living and dining area (sits 12). The Villa

Two Bedroom Villa
This newly refurbished villa category resembles a tropical townhouse complete with an infinity edge swimming pool, sunken deck and outdoor shower. It is a refreshing look that takes typical Balinese villa design to the next level without compromising comfort or convenience.

The ground floor is a well-defined space with full-length glass doors that open wide for direct access to the pool. There is a high-end kitchen facility with sleek appliances and a social dining area at one end. A smart living room is separated by a timber staircase and guest bathroom.

Both bedrooms are located upstairs and distanced by a small foyer for privacy. Each features a calming decor with modern artistic accents. The rooms each have a classic marble en-suite bathroom and the larger of the two has a bathtub for spa-styled bathing indulgence.

Three Bedroom Villa
The three bedroom villa also recreates the ambience of a tropical townhouse with its attention to detail and customised decor. The entire outdoor area takes advantage of Bali’s summer climate. A generous sized swimming pool is edged by a timber deck for lying back and soaking up the sun.

The ground floor is a carefully divided space with sliding glass doors and direct pool access. At one end is a gourmet kitchen and dining area, while the separate living area is a cosy space to gather with loved ones. A comfortably appointed bedroom and en-suite is secluded at the far end.

Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs. Each is a private adult sanctuary that features a calming decor with modern artistic accents. Both rooms have an elegant en-suite bathroom in creamy marble, while the larger of the two has a bathtub for spa-styled bathing pleasure.

Four Bedroom Villa
This spaciously appointed split-level retreat is located at the far end The Grove’s private laneway. It has a secured parking area to accommodate at least two rented vehicles or a handful of motorcycles.

Recently refurbished, this family style villa embodies tropical living with a design concept that embraces the outdoors. The gourmet kitchen and dining environment is an integrated space that is open to the elements. The lounge is also a refreshing open-plan area facing the pool.

The master bedroom is an adult sanctuary bathed in natural sunlight with views of the pool and a garden alcove. It comes with ample storage space and a lavish en-suite bathroom. A generous sized tub set beneath an inspiring picture window has been created for soothing bathing rituals.

There are two more bedrooms with en-suite bathroom facilities located upstairs that are suitable for children or adult guests. Each has a modern decor in earthy shades to promote restful slumber. One room leads to a multi-functional terrace for taking things easy under the sun or stars.

Booking Villa Tirtarum

Cooled by gentle breezes and ceiling fans, the style is minimalist and modern and the decor is crisp and fresh. The villa is characterised by a tiled roof, broad white Palimanan stone pillars and thick walls, and the sunny open living area is equipped with a stereo music system and tastefully adorned with local artefacts. Contemporary furnishings, including daybeds accessorised with colourful cushions and a low table, are complemented by a sparkling grey terrazzo floor. A chunky dining table with eight chairs rests adjacent to the pool, where another ceiling fan and bamboo roller blinds are fitted for the comfort of the guests. A fully equipped open-plan kitchen is located at one side, complete with gas hob, microwave and fridge, flanked by a built-in breakfast bar with pendulous lamps.

Also located downstairs is a washroom and toilet with its own private garden planted with heliconia. An open-air shower is situated close to the pool.

An additional guest bathroom is also located on the ground floor with washbasin and toilet.

A parquet staircase leads up to a wide balcony, with a wooden balustrade, overhanging the pool. The Entertainment Terrace also provides an informal dining area under the balcony for that relaxed barbeque lunch or dinner. Here you can find the sundecks to relax and soak up the sun by the Pool and Spa. Alternatively, relax under the two large Chumplung trees down near the water’s edge of the private white sand beach.

Staff

Staff members live on site in their own quarters and can be available 24/7 if required. For security reasons this will give you peace of mind when staying at Villa Pantai.

Length of Stay

A week at Villa Pantai is probably the minimum you will need. It generally takes most guests 3 or 4 days to un-wind. If it is your first time at the Villa, then it is recommended that two weeks is just right. But three weeks is even better. There are so many activities available in and around East Bali, that three weeks would just be enough time to take it all in.

Yes you’re in Bali for a holiday and to chill out. But you will find that if you don’t organize your day to some extent, then the days will fly by without you doing anything to remember. If you need some help organizing your day then speak with your Villa Manager, Gusti. He can make arrangements for all your daily activities for you. Be specific with what you want or need from your Villa Manager Gusti and every effort will be made to organize it for you.

Meals

A Continental Breakfast is included as part of your rate package. If you wish to have a cooked or alternative breakfast you should speak with your Villa Manager Gusti. He can arrange alternative meals for a small extra charge. For lunch and snacks we have a limited menu available featuring Western and Indonesian favourites. Prices are listed on the menu. For dinner, if you wish to dine-in, you need to speak with our Villa Manager Gusti in the morning regarding your request. Alternatively, Candi Dasa offers some fine restaurants for you to dine at. Ask our Villa Manager Gusti for his recommendations and to arrange transport if required.

Dietary Requirements

If you have some special dietary requirements. Your Villa Manager Gusti is happy to prepare delicious meals to your particular tastes or dietary requirements. He can also recommend cafés or restaurants that cater for people with such special requirements. Please make your request to our Villa Manager Gusti upon arrival at the Villa.

Electricity

East Bali is known to have power black outs during times of heavy loads on the power grid. However, they do not occur very often but they do happen. Having a torch with you would be a good idea. There are also candles available from Gusti. When the power goes off, so too the water pump. The Villa has bore water and the pump will go off when there is a power failure. Also, we provide AC power adaptors for Australian appliances in each Suite. For other adaptors, please speak to our Villa Manager Gusti.

Water

As mentioned, we use bore water at the Villa. It is not recommended that you drink the tap water. Although the water looks crystal clear, it is not safe to drink. There is always bottled water in the fridge at the bar and two bottles are provided in each Suite per person per day.

Terrazzo Flooring

The terrazzo flooring is beautiful, but deadly. With wet feet they are more slippery than an ice skating rink. Please take extreme care and make sure your feet are dry especially if you have just been in the pool or spa. Please keep your children under close supervision at all times to avoid any accidents. Terrazzo is a very porous stone surface and is highly sensitive to red wine and other acidic liquids. Please remove the wine or other liquids immediately.

Tipping

In every other hotel in Bali, a service charge of 10% or more is added to your bill as a tipping charge. This is then shared by the staff on a monthly basis. At Villa Pantai we don’t add a service charge on top of your accommodation bill. Therefore, we encourage you to leave a tip with our Villa Manager Gusti to share with the other staff. This should be in accordance with your level of satisfaction with the service they have provided you.

The Swimming Pool and Spa

The focal point of the Entertainment Terrace is the crystal clear water of the infinity style Swimming pool and Jacuzzi spa. The Swimming pool is a 6 x 3 metres and 2 metres deep infinity style that gives the illusion of swimming into the ocean on the horizon. The pool is tiled with rich royal blue ceramic tiles imported from Italy especially for this pool and spa. In the late afternoon the pool and entertainment areas are shaded by the two huge Chumplung trees and cooled by the afternoon sea breezes from the Indian Ocean.

Entertainment

The entertainment Terrace is complete with sun decks, umbrellas and outdoor dining facilities. This is the area for all day relaxing. Morning sunbathing and in the afternoon you can catch the cooling sea breezes. When evening comes, relax again with friends for a barbeque or that outdoor dining experience. The Terrace overlooks the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean with the mystical Island of Nusa Penida in the background. Watch the ever changing landscape on the waters of the Indian Ocean with the Ferries coming and going from Lombok Island and the myriad of fishing boats going about their business. As night falls, watch the spectacular crimson sunsets to the West over the mountains and the ocean. Relaxing on the Terrace is sheer heaven on a balmy Balinese day.

There are three televisions available at the Villa. One TV is in the Lounge and two are upstairs in the Bedroom Suites. Alternatively, for those who prefer to dine out of an evening, Candi Dasa has a large number of good restaurants within easy walking distance from Villa Pantai. Ask your Villa Manager Gusti for his recommendations and to arrange transport if required.

Food Services

Villa Pantai offers a variety of food services. A Continental breakfast is included in the standard rate package. If you require a cooked breakfast or have specific dietary requirements then you should speak with your Villa Manager Gusti who can make arrangements to meet your specific needs. He will also discuss with you the additional charges for the food and preparation. In addition to breakfast the Villa has a small menu for snacks, lunch and drinks. Prices are listed on the menu for your convenience. If you require other food items then please speak with your Villa Manager Gusti and he will make arrangements upon your requests. Daily afternoon tea or coffee and Balinese sweet delicacies are also included in the standard rate package.

Internet Services

The Villa has a laptop computer for the use of the internet or emails. Please speak with your Villa Manager Gusti if you require these services. As small time based fee is charged for internet and email usage. There are also a number of Internet Cafés in Candi Dasa which offer basic Bali time (slow) internet services.

Massage and Spa Treatments

Bali is a Mecca for massage and spa treatments. There are many local villagers who perform a traditional Balinese massage. There are also local healers who perform therapeutic massage for your very stressed out muscles, body and limbs. If you want to take advantage of these low cost stress and pain relief massages then you should speak with your Villa Manager Gusti. He can organize the most appropriate masseur.

Pool and Spa

Unlike in Australia and other parts of the world, Bali does not have laws governing the fencing of Swimming Pools and Spas. Consequently, the pool and spa at the Villa are not fenced and are open to all guests. Pools and spas, just like the beach and the surf, are dangerous places if you’re not careful. Please exercise extreme caution when using the Pool or Spa. If you are accompanied by small or young children, please ensure they are supervised at all times. Never take your eyes off them for a moment, as accidents can happen very quickly.

Medical Services

If you are in need of general medical services, we can recommend a local English speaking doctor located in Buitan, Manggis. If however, you require more specialized medical services then it would be best to contact the various Western based hospitals such as BIMC or SOS in Kuta. Please speak with your Villa Manager Gusti for more information regarding your choice of service.

Laundry Services

A laundry service is available at the Villa for a small additional charge. Please allow 24 hours for processing. Speak with your Villa Manager Gusti if you require this service.

Organised Tours

At Villa Pantai we have available to us the exclusive services of a professional English speaking driver with an air-conditioned motor vehicle. The vehicle can seat up to seven people and the driver and the car are available for hire. Hire costs are from Half Day USD$35 and Full Day USD$55. Please speak with your Villa Manager Gusti if you require this service. He can put together full or half day sightseeing adventure packages for you. Local attractions include the Royal Baths at Tirta Gangga; the ancient “Bali Aga” village of Teganan; the Royal Summer Palace at Ujung; or further afield to the Besakih Temple on the slopes of Mt Agung. There is also Lake Batur and Kintamani where you can view the volcanoes and the mountain lakes; or closer to home the Palace of Justice in Klungkung and then on the way home visit the bat Caves at Goa Lawah.
We highly recommend that you hire a car and driver (although car rentals are available in Candi Dasa). Driving in Bali can be very dangerous for foreigners who are unfamiliar with the local road laws and customs.
If you prefer an alternative, you could hire bicycles in Candi Dasa. Cycling is a very cheap mode of transportation whilst increasing your fitness levels at the same time. Be very careful when riding bicycles on the roads in Bali, as they are very narrow and dangerous.

Airport Transfers

Transfers to and from the Villa can be arranged with our private driver at the cost of USD$55 for a round trip. Please speak to our Villa Manager Gusti to arrange this service before arriving in Bali or book it online with your accommodation.

Booking Villa Pantai

About 1 hour from the international airport and 5 km north of Ubud is the compound of Villa Naga. “Naga” means dragon, an auspicious sign of the Chinese zodiac. The house is designed by Dutch architect, Joost van Grieken using traditional Balinese and Javanese building materials in a very modern minimalist style. The house has been written up in a number of books and architectural magazines as part of the new Bali school of architecture. The long stretched piece of land gives far views over the Wos River – valley, is mainly facing the east, the direction of the sun and moonrise.His modern designed pavilions were completed in spring 2001 and consist the following:

The modern designed pavilions were completed in spring 2001 and consist the following. From the entrance pavilion a walkway leads through a lush garden to the central courtyard. Here is the access to main pavilion from where you can experience your first stunning views over the valley.

In this long-house style pavilion the open dining space is accommodated, together with 2 spacious bedrooms. In between the entrance from the gallery to the bedrooms is a private comfortable sitting area located.

Via the dining area, walking over stepping-stones of the main focus fishpond, one reaches the large living pavilion, where the kitchen and the staff quarters are housed. While traditional Balinese and Javanese materials are used throughout, the pavilions with the thatched roofs appear to be modern, so is most of the furniture.

By using limited selection of materials Joost enhances the simplicity and purity of the house.
Lombok grasses form the thatch of the roof, but bengkerai wood is used in the roof framework, as well as for all the door and window fittings, and the octagonal load bearing columns; the latter are supported by resilient Javanese white stone. All decorative and art works have been collected by the owner during trips all over Asia. The lighting in the pavilions and gardens create another serene atmosphere during the evenings.

In addition, custom made ivory and polished cement tiles make elegant statements in all pavilions, while the walls are either finished in cream-color sandstone or plastered and painted in Canton green or Tuscan terracotta. Each bedroom has a king size bed, a separate dressing area, a bathroom with an attached open outdoor patio with a freestanding bathtub and shower. Ceiling fans cool the 2 double bedrooms.
