Villa Tanju is a luxurious 4-bedroom beachfront villa, located at Mengening Beach on Bali’s southwest coast. Villa Tanju is comprised of a series of pavilions, leisurely spread throughout 2,400 square metres of tropical gardens, complete with a stunning 15 x 4.5 metre infinity-edge swimming pool, lotus ponds and restful water features. The simple application of timber, terrazzo, natural colours, fabrics and local materials, such as the alang-alang grass used in the construction of the roofs, is consistent throughout the property. The rugged beach is just a few metres away and the glorious views take in the distant volcanoes, dramatic coastline and neighbouring Hindu sea temple of Pura Bata Ngandang, perched on a rocky outcrop and lashed by the waves of the Indian Ocean.

The Setting
The property is entered via a traditional Balinese gate, sheltered by a thatched roof and framed in a patchwork of random rocks. A pathway leads past bulrush ponds and water spouts, and a welcome ensemble of five gamelan musicians hand-carved out of local paras stone. Stepping stones weave through the neat garden, past palm trees, dwarf lanterns, tipsy earthenware pots and sweet scented frangipani, between twin lotus ponds stocked with fish, to the 9 x 6 metre stand-alone living pavilion, which is centrally positioned, facing the ocean and bordering the pool deck. This room is completely encompassed by glass to preserve the view through the garden; the clever design allows guests to completely fold back the doors to create an open-air pavilion, cooled by natural breezes and ceiling fans. Bamboo blinds on all four sides can be dropped for privacy and shade. Featuring a cool terrazzo floor, the room is tastefully furnished with deeply-cushioned sofas, a low coffee table and stylish lamps. A selection of games and magazines is provided for the use of the guests, together with a high quality music system with surround sound provided by speakers hidden in the roof.

Positioned on the seaward side, aspected west towards the magnificent sunsets, the angled swimming pool appears to overflow into the beachfront garden. A timber sundeck is located on one side, the raised position ensuring that it catches the cool sea breezes. It is furnished with four sunbeds and two umbrellas and there is also an outdoor shower. A Buddha statue rests at one end overlooking the fresh green coastal lawns, which are dotted with coconut palms. The gardens are perfect for weddings, parties and functions, and also provide a great play area for children.

Dining & Kitchen
Approached by stepping stones, the striking hexagonal dining pavilion is completely open-air, sheltered by a soaring alang-alang grass roof. It features a terrazzo floor and is furnished with a grand dining table and ten chairs; a wonderful place to enjoy a semi-alfresco dining experience within sight and sound of the sea. A guest washroom and toilet is discreetly positioned to one side.

The immaculate, well equipped western-style kitchen adjoins the dining pavilion, and is fully fitted with gas stove, oven, and numerous appliances. Here, the cook will prepare delicious meals from a menu of Indonesian and International dishes.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The master bedroom is situated within another self-contained single storey pavilion. It is entered by a pair of solid teak antique doors complemented by a teakwood floor, and is characterised by a king-size four-poster bed draped in white muslin, together with cane planter chairs, ceramic lamps and eye-catching local artwork. The bedroom is also equipped with a flat screen satellite TV with DVD/music system, together with a split air-conditioning unit and overhead ceiling fan. Large sliding glass doors open on to an outdoor verandah running the length of the bedroom. This sheltered timber deck is furnished with a huge daybed, where guests can relax and enjoy the ocean vista and the rhythmic murmur of the waves. A door leads off the bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe complete with shelves, hanging space and a safe deposit box. The romantic en-suite garden bathroom is walled for privacy and is characterised by an open-air shower on a Palimanan stand, bordered by frangipani, palms, giant taro leaves and colourful croton. The room is dominated by an oversized sunken bathtub, fashioned out of cream terrazzo. The toilet is hidden behind a half-wall, on top of which reclines a Buddha statue.

Two more air-conditioned bedrooms, each complete with an en-suite bathroom, are located on the ground floor of the main two-storey building. One room is furnished with twin beds, ideal for kids, together with desk, chair, radio/tape player, built in wardrobe, ceiling fan and safe deposit box. Antique doors open into a lush garden bathroom featuring a sheltered oval bathtub and outdoor shower, toilet and vanity unit with washbasin. Sliding glass doors lead from the bedroom onto a timber deck, which runs the full length of the front of the building and is furnished with a table and four high stools. A double bedroom is also accessed from the wooden deck, and is a mirror image of the room next door complete with adjoining garden bathroom. It is furnished with a king size bed, together with desk, chair, radio/tape player, built in wardrobe, ceiling fan and safe deposit box.

An external sweeping staircase curves up to a large wooden balcony deck with a comfortable daybed from where guests can enjoy fantastic panoramic views while chilling out with a book or a sunset cocktail. This upstairs area houses the fourth air-conditioned bedroom, complete with sliding glass doors onto the balcony. It is attractively furnished with a four-poster king-size canopied bed and a time-honoured chest of drawers, and is fitted with a ceiling fan and safe deposit box. It also features an antique wooden door that leads onto the balcony. A third door accesses a bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and shell-veneered washbowl. The top section of the exterior wall is open to allow the fresh air to permeate together with the soothing sound of running water from the fountain in the garden below.

The study room is positioned next door to the upstairs bedroom and shares the adjoining bathroom. This room also doubles as a fifth bedroom, where guests can relax in snug, air-conditioned comfort. It is well equipped with a desk, Broadband Internet access, computer, 29-inch flat screen plasma TV with satellite reception and DVD/music system. There is also a wall unit with drawers, shelves and cupboards full of books, DVDs, music CDs, and games for the use of the guests. Glass-fronted doors open onto the verandah.

Practicalities, such as the staff quarters and laundry, are taken care of in the service area beside the entrance to the property, leaving the remainder of the villa free to enjoy the garden and ocean view. Guests also have use of a full-size tennis court and mountain bikes. With its spacious and luxurious atmosphere, Villa Tanju Bali is ideally suited for families and small groups of discerning people who want to experience the best of Bali.

The Location
Villa Tanju is located on the coast, within the beautiful agricultural belt between Kuta and Tanah Lot; an area that is home to some of the most luxurious private residences on the island. Shalimar is the perfect location for parties, weddings and other larger events, but also for a relaxing and overwhelming luxurious holiday stay for larger groups. Located on the beach of Pantai Seseh; Shalimar has an astonishing view over the surrounding rice fields and the ocean. Contemporary Villa Retreat

The Grove Villas is a residential styled complex that incorporates five individual villa units in the semi-rural district of Umalas. Each villa is a contemporary retreat that has been designed for optimal relaxation away from the frenzied pace of mainstream tourist activity.

The property offers a choice of two, three or four bedroom villa categories to accommodate families and small groups of friends. Each villa has a similar design aesthetic that is essentially modern with a few eclectic pieces of artistry to add an element of surprise.

The Grove Villas is located in the village of Umalas, an area that is still blessed with fertile rice terraces and a laid-back way of life. It is a place to truly escape the trappings of city living and spend quality time reconnecting on a personal level with loved ones.

The Villa

Two Bedroom Villa
This newly refurbished villa category resembles a tropical townhouse complete with an infinity edge swimming pool, sunken deck and outdoor shower. It is a refreshing look that takes typical Balinese villa design to the next level without compromising comfort or convenience.

The ground floor is a well-defined space with full-length glass doors that open wide for direct access to the pool. There is a high-end kitchen facility with sleek appliances and a social dining area at one end. A smart living room is separated by a timber staircase and guest bathroom.

Both bedrooms are located upstairs and distanced by a small foyer for privacy. Each features a calming decor with modern artistic accents. The rooms each have a classic marble en-suite bathroom and the larger of the two has a bathtub for spa-styled bathing indulgence.

Three Bedroom Villa
The three bedroom villa also recreates the ambience of a tropical townhouse with its attention to detail and customised decor. The entire outdoor area takes advantage of Bali’s summer climate. A generous sized swimming pool is edged by a timber deck for lying back and soaking up the sun.

The ground floor is a carefully divided space with sliding glass doors and direct pool access. At one end is a gourmet kitchen and dining area, while the separate living area is a cosy space to gather with loved ones. A comfortably appointed bedroom and en-suite is secluded at the far end.

Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs. Each is a private adult sanctuary that features a calming decor with modern artistic accents. Both rooms have an elegant en-suite bathroom in creamy marble, while the larger of the two has a bathtub for spa-styled bathing pleasure.

Four Bedroom Villa
This spaciously appointed split-level retreat is located at the far end The Grove’s private laneway. It has a secured parking area to accommodate at least two rented vehicles or a handful of motorcycles.

Recently refurbished, this family style villa embodies tropical living with a design concept that embraces the outdoors. The gourmet kitchen and dining environment is an integrated space that is open to the elements. The lounge is also a refreshing open-plan area facing the pool.

The master bedroom is an adult sanctuary bathed in natural sunlight with views of the pool and a garden alcove. It comes with ample storage space and a lavish en-suite bathroom. A generous sized tub set beneath an inspiring picture window has been created for soothing bathing rituals.

There are two more bedrooms with en-suite bathroom facilities located upstairs that are suitable for children or adult guests. Each has a modern decor in earthy shades to promote restful slumber. One room leads to a multi-functional terrace for taking things easy under the sun or stars.

The fourth bedroom and en-suite bathroom is secluded within a shady corner at the lowest level of the property. It is accessed by an inconspicuous staircase and is the perfect hideaway for a teenager seeking time alone. This room has its own timber deck and a small patch of garden.

Semi Rural Location

The excitement of downtown Seminyak, with its sophisticated wining, dining and shopping scene, is just a 10 minute journey by car. The nearest beach for a great day of sea and sun is in the neighbouring village of Petitenget. The international airport is 30 minutes away.

‘Vara’ means a blessing – so named and designed by the owners as this quiet space in the popular Seminyak area gives its guests a beautiful, relaxing and peaceful experience!

Located in a secluded lane off Jalan Drupadi, Villa Vara is just a short distance away from the main Jalan Laksmana, the arterial road of Seminyak. This Jalan Seminyak (perpendicular to Jalan Drupadi on one end and within walking distance!) is appropriately known as ‘Eat Street’. There are many restaurants available and shops/designer boutiques to browse in but it primarily runs from Ku-De-Ta, La Luciola, The Living Room and the Oberoi hotel right up to the crossroad to Raya Kerobokan. Jalan Laksmana is a winding road that further leads up to Jalan Petinenget, which offers even more restaurants and concept dining places to choose from. The beach too is just a few minutes drive or a short walking distance from the villa. Therefore dining, shopping and spa facilities are all available within a radius of one kilometer of the villa!

All the four air-conditioned bedrooms and the main living area overlook the swimming pool on two sides along with beautiful tropical landscape around the pool area. The main pavilion houses the living space, dining area and the kitchen.

Main – Living/Dining Area

The living area is ideal for lounging and relaxation for the family or for a group of friends. This area is equipped with a big television and a music system fully installed with a high quality surround sound system for the listening pleasure of our guests.

The dining area consists of a luxurious dining table and chairs with comfort and practicality in mind.

The open plan kitchen is located behind the living and dining area with a fully fitted gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, juicer, water gallon, refrigerator, china ware and glass ware to cater to all kinds of needs.

Master Bedroom and Second Bedroom

Also called twin guesthouse because the two guest rooms are similar and only separated by a unique water feature that holds a statue of the revered Ganesha (the Hindu god with an elephant trunk). Both these bedrooms overlook the swimming pool. One of the twin rooms features a double bed (the master bedroom), the other – twin beds which are for ideal use for siblings or single young adults on a sharing basis. The rooms are fully equipped with large wardrobes, which also have safe deposit boxes installed inside the wardrobes. The en-suite bathrooms have open showers with 24-hour hot and cold running water and exclusive guest amenities and supplies that are replenished when the villa is serviced on a daily basis.

Third Bedroom

This is located adjacent to the living room in the main area. This bedroom offers a double bed and also has a desk and chair if the guest requires to place laptops and other electronic devices during their stay.

Fourth Bedroom/Study

This room (on the other side, adjacent to the dining area) has twin day beds along with a desk and chair, a television with a DVD player. Ideally, this room is great for young children, teenagers and young adults

Living Area

The combined living and dining area is part of the main house overlooking the length of the swimming pool. The living area has been designed for casual comfort and is the perfect place for family and friends to congregate at any time of the day or night. This area has been left open so the view to the pool and the landscaped area is not obstructed. It allows guests to move around freely between the bedrooms and this common assigned space.

Dining Space

The Dining space is in the other side of the living area, in front of the kitchen. This has been designed in such a way so guests can enjoy a meal while listening to music, watching TV or a movie along with easy accessibility to the kitchen. The elegant dining table allows for a prestigious private dining experience if guests so wish.

Kitchen

The kitchen area is located behind the living and dining area. The kitchen is fully fitted with a four-burner stove, microwave, coffee maker, juicer, and cutlery dining set, chinaware and maxi bar. The aqua gallon has been installed on one side of the kitchen so it is easily accessible to all the guests in the villa at all times. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils (pots, pans, ladles, knives etc.) including crockery, cutlery and glassware. Most of the crockery provided has been sourced from “Jenggala” (the state-of-the-art designer boutique for high quality and handcrafted ceramic goods of international standards available in Bali).

Landscaped Garden & Pool

The centre of the villa is dominated by a swimming pool. It is surrounded by a tropical garden with green grass, palm, the ubiquitous frangipani trees and others tropical plants. The steps to the pool are on the opposite side of the bedrooms and thus located so that its in proximity to the outdoor shower area and for easy access to the relaxing bale with the day bed or the other corner bale with the bar and barbeque facilities.

Bale (Gazebo) – The ‘Relaxing Bale’ & The ‘Bale Bar’

On other side of the pool directly across the living/dining area are two bales:

1. Bale with a day bed. This directly overlooks the swimming pool. Guests can take a dip in the pool and then relax, read or take a massage on this bale. Both the bales are equipped with fans for guests to use in the warmer months

2. A newly constructed bale with a fully equipped barbeque bar has been installed for the pleasure of our guests. This bale offers a fridge and BBQ as well as a kitchen sink – ideal place to hold a barbeque party!

Villa Santai is on a quiet lane off Jalan Drupadi just a short walk from the beach and from Seminyak’s famous ‘Eat Street’ which boasts a plethora of restaurants, cafes and designer boutiques.A few hundred meters south of the villa is Jalan Dhyana Pura which has its own vibrant restaurant scene as well as boutiques, art shops and some fantastic live music venues.The villa has been modelled on a traditional Balinese compound with separate living spaces situated around a beautiful landscaped garden making Santai the perfect stay for families and groups of friends.

VILLA SANTAI ACCOMMODATION

Single-storey Villa Santai is bathed in light creating a natural sense of space and a casual ambience. Built around the pool, each of the four air-conditioned bedrooms has a semi-outdoor ensuite bathroom.

Main Building

The main pavilion, which also overlooks the pool, houses an air-conditioned TV room as well as a living space, dining area and kitchen which is fully-equipped with a gas stove, a microwave, a coffee maker, a juicer, a water dispenser, a refrigerator, a maxi bar and cutlery, china and glass ware.

The proximity of the dining table and chairs to the living area means that guests can enjoy a movie while they eat.

The main pavilion has secure doors to stop children reaching the pool unattended.
